rebecca johanson-hofmann
Rebecca began riding when she was 11 years old in Salt Lake City, Utah. On her first pony, Blue Moon, Rebecca qualified to compete in the 1998 National Pony Hunter Championships in Wayne, Illinois. That was her first taste of national level competition.
Definitely bitten by the competition bug, just a few years later, at the age of 15, Rebecca moved away from home to live in Scottsdale, AZ, in order to further her riding career. Finishing high school in Scottsdale, Rebecca was a working student and rode with Betty Beran of Smoke Tree Ranch. During her junior years with Beran, Rebecca garnered multiple championships in the hunter, jumper and equitation arenas both catch riding and on her own horses.
After her junior career, Rebecca attended Arizona State University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business.
In 2005 Rebecca made the move into the Grand Prix ring with her gray mare, Corona. Together they earned a team silver medal at the 2005 North American Young Riders Championships. In this first year of Grand Prix Competition, Rebecca was also named Runner-up Champion Pacific Coast Horse Show Association (PCHA) Rookie of the Year. (The PCHA Rookie of the Year standings are based on money won throughout Grand Prix competitions that are held in the West Coast of the United States in the rider’s rookie year.)
In 2006 Rebecca earned the alternate spot to represent the United States in the 2006 World Cup Finals that were held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Finished with college, Rebecca is now focused on continuing to produce quality sale horses for Blue Hill Farm LLC and rise in the ranks in both the national and international show jumping leagues. Her goal for 2007 is to represent the United States in International Grand Prix competition.
Rebecca currently serves as an active board member of West Coast Active Riders.
